Step 1 — Rinse
Warm water and mild soap after each use. Never put your knife in the dishwasher — the harsh detergents and jostling will damage the edge and handle.
Step 2 — Dry
Towel dry immediately. Don't leave it wet or in the sink — even stainless steel can develop spots if left damp.
Step 3 — Store
Use a knife block, magnetic strip, or blade guard. Never toss it loose in a drawer — it dulls the edge and is a safety hazard.
That's it — no special maintenance, no fussy rituals. Your Shimeru knife is designed for daily use. With these three steps it'll stay razor-sharp for years.
Cant believe how sharp this is for the price. I was sceptical but its proper Japanese quality. The vacuum heat treated blade holds its edge way longer than my old knives. Used it to slice a whole salmon fillet and it was effortless. Good buy.
Its decent enough but Im not blown away. The knife is sharp and does the job but for forty quid I was hoping for something a bit more premium feeling. The handle is okay but not as comfortable as I thought. It works fine for chopping veg and meat but doesnt feel as special as the description makes out. Good value I suppose but not amazing.
Great knife overall, really sharp and feels well made. Only thing is its a touch heavier than I expected but Im getting used to it after using it for a few days. The edge is lovely and it cuts through veg like butter. Would buy again but maybe in a slightly longer size next time.
Bought this for my wife as a birthday present. She does alot of cooking and wanted a decent santoku. She reckons its the best knife shes ever used — the balance is spot on and its held its edge well after a few weeks of daily use. Came well packaged and delivery was quick. Cheers.
Got this on a whim and its brill. Perfect size for everyday chopping, feels really balanced. The handle is comfortable even after prepping a big dinner. Would definitely recommend if you want a proper santoku without spending a fortune.
Ok so Ive had this knife for about a month now and I love it. Sharp as anything straight away and its stayed that way. The stainless steel is easy to keep clean and it feels quality in the hand. Massive upgrade from my old Victorinox
Honestly didnt think Id be this impressed for forty quid. The blade is razor sharp out the box and the flat profile on a santoku is perfect for my veg prep. Used it tonight to chop a massive pile of mushrooms and it just glided through. Handle feels nice and secure aswell.
Solid knife for the money. The blade is very sharp and the handle has a nice feel. My only minor gripe is that the handle shape took a bit of getting used to, its a bit more square than my old knives. But after a weeks use its fine. Arrived next day which was a bonus.
Brilliant knife, exactly what I needed. Lovely edge on it.
So I've been using this for about a month now, chopping veg every day. The edge is still ridiculously sharp, honestly cant believe it for the price. Its so much better than the cheap supermarket santoku I had before, glides through onions and peppers like theyre not even there. Handle feels really solid too.
