Sold OutStep 1 — Rinse
Warm water and mild soap after each use. Never put your knife in the dishwasher — the harsh detergents and jostling will damage the edge and handle.
Step 2 — Dry
Towel dry immediately. Don't leave it wet or in the sink — even stainless steel can develop spots if left damp.
Step 3 — Store
Use a knife block, magnetic strip, or blade guard. Never toss it loose in a drawer — it dulls the edge and is a safety hazard.
That's it — no special maintenance, no fussy rituals. Your Shimeru knife is designed for daily use. With these three steps it'll stay razor-sharp for years.
Got this as a birthday present for my husband and he hasn't stopped using it. Said its a massive upgrade from the old set we had. He loves the balance and how it feels in his hand. Arrived in a nice box as well, which was a bonus.
It's a decent enough knife, does the job. Cuts well and the Damascus pattern looks alright. But I dunno, for seventy quid I was expecting a bit more wow factor if I'm honest. Feels a bit like my old ProCook one just fancier looking. Good but not great.
So I got this to replace my old Victorinox and honestly, it's night and day. The rocking motion on this gyuto is just effortless. It's got a bit of heft to it which I like, feels solid. The resin handle looks smart and gives a good grip even when my hands are a bit greasy.
Really nice knife, sharp out the box and looks the part. Only minor thing is the handle took a bit of getting used to – it's a bit rounder than I expected, but I've adjusted now. Would buy again.
Cant believe how good this is for the price. I've had my eye on proper Japanese knives for ages but couldn't justify the cost. This is a brilliant entry point. The Damascus finish is stunning and it holds its edge really well. Used it to prep a whole Sunday roast and it was a joy.
Bought this after using a friend's similar knife and I'm impressed. The blade is lovely and sharp, and the pattern on it is really striking. It's a touch heavier than my old one but I actually prefer the feel of it now. My only gripe is I thought the packaging would be a bit nicer for the price, but it's fine.
Brilliant knife for the money. Makes quick work of veg and I've used it to break down a chicken no problem. I just wish it came in a 10 inch version as well because this is a little shorter than I'd like for larger bits of meat. Still, can't complain for what I paid.
Crikey, this knife is sharp. Like, properly sharp. I've been using it for about a fortnight now and it just glides through everything – onions, carrots, even butternut squash. The pattern on the blade is gorgeous too, proper unique. Definitely worth the money.
Brilliant knife, exactly what I needed. Makes quick work of onions and the rocking motion is perfect. A massive upgrade from the cheap supermarket set I had. For the price its an absolute steal.
Massive upgrade from my old Victorinox chef's knife. The Damascus finish is a real talking point when we have people over. It just feels premium.
