SaleBought this to replace an old chef's knife and it's definitely a step up. The rocking motion is perfect for herbs. I do wish it came in a slightly longer size, maybe a 9 inch, as I've got big hands. But for the price, it's a cracking bit of kit and I'm very happy with it.
Ok so first impressions are great, it's a beautiful looking thing and makes quick work of onions. It's a bit heavier than I expected for a Japanese knife, but I actually think I prefer the bit of extra heft now, gives it a more solid feel. Arrived next day which was a bonus.
So I got this knife as a birthday present for my wife, she's been wanting a proper Japanese knife for ages. Honestly, it's stunning, the pattern on the blade is just beautiful and it's so sharp out of the box. She used it to prep a Sunday roast and said it glided through everything, the carrots didn't stand a chance. Came in a nice box too, felt really special.
Arrived next day which was a bonus. The knife is stunning, looks even better in person. Used it to break down a whole chicken and it handled it with ease, no sticking. Very happy.
I use this daily for everything from chopping herbs to slicing meat. The 8 inch size is perfect for me, not too big not too small. Really pleased with it.
Brilliant knife, exactly what I needed. Massive upgrade from my old supermarket one, the edge retention is fantastic. Been using it daily for a few weeks now and it still slices paper thin tomatoes with no effort. Lovely bit of kit.
Really nice knife, the Damascus finish is gorgeous and it's incredibly sharp. My only thing is the handle shape, it's a bit more oval than I'm used to so took a day or two to feel completely natural in my hand. Once I got used to it though, it's a joy to use for all the general chopping.
Great knife, makes quick work of onions and peppers. The Damascus finish is beautiful. I think the handle, while comfortable, could be a tiny bit thicker for my grip. Still, its a keeper.
Bought this for my dad and he loves it. He said its way better than the Procook set he had. He did mention the blade is a bit thinner than his old one so he's being more careful, but sees that as a good thing. Looks great in his block.
Been using this for a few weeks now and its a massive upgrade from my old IKEA knives. The Damascus pattern is beautiful and it holds its edge really well, even after prepping a big Sunday roast.
Its a decent knife. Looks nice and is sharp. I dont know, for the price I guess I was expecting to be a bit more wowed. It does the job fine, cuts vegetables well, but doesnt feel that special to me. Its alright.
Got this as a birthday present for my husband who loves to cook. He was over the moon with it, says the balance is perfect and it feels really solid in the hand.
Nice knife. Cuts well, looks good. I suppose I was expecting the handle to have a bit more of a premium feel to it, its fine just not exceptional. The blade itself is fantastic though.
Came really well packaged in a nice box, felt like a proper treat. The knife itself is gorgeous, the wavy lines on the steel are mesmerising. Cuts beautifully.
Really good knife, especially for the price. The balance is good. I find it a tiny bit blade-heavy for my liking when doing a lot of fine chopping, but for general use its brilliant.
Absolutely love this knife. The pattern on the blade is stunning and its so sharp, glides through veg like its nothing. My new favourite in the kitchen.
Okay knife. The Damascus pattern is its best feature really. Cuts fine, but I found the handle a bit slippery if my hands are even slightly damp. Its good, not great. Does what it says on the tin but I probably wouldn't buy it again.
Used it to prep a big veg stew and it performed brilliantly. The edge is scary sharp. Only thing is I wish it came with a simple edge guard or sleeve for storage, had to use a tea towel. Knife itself is top.
Ok so I was after a proper gyuto and this one is spot on. The rocking motion when chopping is so smooth, it just feels right. Cant believe how sharp it is.
Good knife, no complaints about the cutting performance. Its just a bit different to my old Wusthof, the profile is flatter so my rocking chop is a bit different. Getting used to it and its growing on me.
So sharp out of the box. I was a bit nervous about the price but its worth it, makes prepping dinner so much quicker. The handle is comfortable too.
Happy with this purchase. Its a big step up from supermarket knives. The Damascus is pretty. I think the handle colour is a bit plain, would've preferred a darker wood, but thats just aesthetics. Cuts like a dream.
Lovely looking knife and cuts brilliantly. Its a tad heavier than I expected but I actually prefer it now for tougher jobs like squash. Not a complaint really, just an observation.
This knife is a solid performer with a great design and sharp edge.
Very good knife for the money. The edge retention seems good so far. My only minor gripe is I wish it came in a 9 inch option as I've got big hands, but the 8 inch is still perfectly useable. Would recommend.
