Masterful Blade Construction
At the heart of the Takumi lies a meticulously forged blade crafted from 67 layers of premium Damascus steel. This intricate layering not only provides superior sharpness and long-lasting resilience but also reveals a captivating wave pattern unique to Damascus artistry. The subtle hammered finish reduces drag, allowing each cut to glide smoothly and cleanly for professional-level precision.
Rosewood Handle of Distinction
The handle is shaped from richly grained rosewood whose warm, natural tones bring a touch of refined luxury. Comfortable and perfectly balanced, it offers a secure grip that minimizes fatigue and enhances control during even the most demanding preparation. Its polished surface and graceful profile create a striking contrast to the intricate steel, making the knife as beautiful as it is functional.

Sold OutStep 1 — Rinse
Warm water and mild soap after each use. Never put your knife in the dishwasher — the harsh detergents and jostling will damage the edge and handle.
Step 2 — Dry
Towel dry immediately. Don't leave it wet or in the sink — even stainless steel can develop spots if left damp.
Step 3 — Store
Use a knife block, magnetic strip, or blade guard. Never toss it loose in a drawer — it dulls the edge and is a safety hazard.
That's it — no special maintenance, no fussy rituals. Your Shimeru knife is designed for daily use. With these three steps it'll stay razor-sharp for years.
I got this because of how it looked but performance wise it's just average for me. The tip is useful but I find it a bit awkward for everyday chopping. Maybe I need to get used to it more. It's fine.
Cant believe how sharp this is. I've been using it daily for about a month now and its still holding its edge brilliantly. The balance feels really natural in my hand.
Been after a kiritsuke for a while and this one ticked all the boxes. The flat profile makes chopping herbs a dream, no more accordion bits. And it's really comfortable to use for long prep sessions.
Very pleased with this purchase. The blade is sharp and the damascus pattern looks smart. If I had to nitpick I'd say the handle could be a tiny bit thicker for my large hands but it's not a dealbreaker.
It's a decent knife, I mean it cuts and feels solid but I wasn't blown away. For the price I expected it to feel a bit more special? The sharpness was ok but not dramatically better than my old supermarket knife.
The knife looks the part with the damascus pattern but honestly it's just ok. I found the edge needed a bit of work on a whetstone to get it properly sharp. It's a nice knife but I think I expected a bit more for nearly £70.
The Damascus cladding is even more beautiful in person. I find myself just staring at it sometimes. Sharpness out the box was spot on, and it's made quick work of all my sunday roast prep.
So I bought this mainly because it looked good but I'm genuinely surprised by how well it performs. Used it to break down a load of butternut squash and it went through like butter. My old knife would have struggled.
Was a bit nervous spending this much on a knife but honestly no regrets. I use it for nearly all my cooking now, from mincing garlic to slicing steaks. The edge retention is impressive as well.
Lovely knife. Arrived next day which was a bonus, packaged really nicely in a presentation box so it felt a bit special unboxing it. The blade is a work of art honestly.
