Step 1, Rinse
Warm water and mild soap after each use. Never put your knife in the dishwasher, the harsh detergents and jostling will damage the edge and handle.
Step 2, Dry
Towel dry immediately. Don't leave it wet or in the sink, even stainless steel can develop spots if left damp.
Step 3, Store
Use a knife block, magnetic strip, or blade guard. Never toss it loose in a drawer, it dulls the edge and is a safety hazard.
That's it, no special maintenance, no fussy rituals. Your Shimeru knife is designed for daily use. With these three steps it'll stay razor-sharp for years.
Got this for my husbands birthday, he absolutely loves it. The blade is properly sharp out the box and the flat profile makes it dead easy for chopping veg. Lovely knife for the price.
Ok so I've been using this for about 2 weeks now and it's a massive upgrade from my old supermarket knife. The 67 layer damascus looks stunning in person, photos don't do it justice. Used it to prep a full Sunday roast and it went through potatoes, carrots, the lot without any effort. Handle feels nice and balanced, not too heavy for my small hands. Came in a decent presentation box as well which was a bonus. Well happy with it.
Got this knife after my old one gave up, and blimey it's sharp. The flat profile makes chopping onions and garlic a doddle, no rocking needed just straight down. Used it every day for a fortnight now and still shaving arm hair. Bit heavier than your average santoku but it feels really well balanced. The Damascus pattern is lovely too, proper head-turner when mates come round.
Bought this as a birthday present for the wife, she's been on at me for a decent knife for ages. Arrived next day, well packaged. She absolutely loves it, says it glides through carrots and spuds. Even I've been using it and it's made cooking actually enjoyable. Cracking bit of kit for the money.
really pleased with this santoku. it took me a few goes to get used to the weight—it’s a bit heavier than me old knife, but now i kind of prefer it for rock chopping herbs. handle feels nice in the hand, though i’ve got big mitts and could do with it being half an inch longer. holds its edge well so far, no complaints. arrived next day in a decent box.
got this knife for me mums birthday and shes over the moon. honestly i’ve been pinching it every time i go round, its that good. slices through onions and spuds like nothing, the flat profile really helps for chopping veg fast. the damascus pattern looks dead classy too. edge is still razor sharp after a month of proper use.
Bought this knife a month ago and its proper sharp out the box. Use it pretty much every day for chopping veg, slicing chicken, all that. The damascus pattern is gorgeous! Really nice to look at. Cuts through onions like theyre not even there, no tearing at all. The flat edge is perfect for how I chop, never had a santoku before but this one just works. Came in a lovely presentation box as well, felt like a proper gift even though I got it for myself. Honestly cant fault it, been using it for weeks and still razor sharp.
Got this for my husbands birthday, he’s well chuffed. The blade is stunning, the layers really catch the light. He said it felt a bit heavy compared to his old santoku, but after a week he prefers the weight—says it does the work for him. Only taking a star off because I wish it came with a blade guard or something, but for the price I can't complain. Delivery was quick and everything was packaged safely.
really nice knife, holds an edge well and the balance is decent. the flat santoku profile makes dicing veg a breeze. only tiny niggle is the handle feels a bit chunky in my hand, would've preferred something a touch slimmer but that's personal taste. still a solid buy for £80
got this for my wife's birthday, shes been using some old ikea knives for years so this is a massive step up. honestly the sharpest thing ive ever held, glides through tomatoes without squishing them. the damascus pattern is stunning too, proper piece of kit for the price
