Step 1 — Rinse
Warm water and mild soap after each use. Never put your knife in the dishwasher — the harsh detergents and jostling will damage the edge and handle.
Step 2 — Dry
Towel dry immediately. Don't leave it wet or in the sink — even stainless steel can develop spots if left damp.
Step 3 — Store
Use a knife block, magnetic strip, or blade guard. Never toss it loose in a drawer — it dulls the edge and is a safety hazard.
That's it — no special maintenance, no fussy rituals. Your Shimeru knife is designed for daily use. With these three steps it'll stay razor-sharp for years.
This is a massive upgrade from my old set. The Damascus steel looks the part in the kitchen and it feels solid in the hand. Did a whole Sunday roast with it, veg, chicken, everything. No complaints at all. Great quality.
Slightly heavier than what I was using before, but that actually gives it more control. The edge retention is excellent, still sharp after a weeks use. Only gave it 4 stars because I wish it came in a 8 inch version. But for a santoku its spot on.
Came quick and well packaged. The handle feels nice, good grip and the blade is proper sharp. Used it to prep a load of veg for a curry and it flew through. Cant ask for more really.
Had this about a month now and its been brilliant. Use it for everything from veg prep to slicing cooked meat. The flat profile of the santoku took a day or two to get used to coming from a chefs knife but now I prefer it. Edge is still razor sharp. Highly recommend.
Really good knife overall. Sharp as anything and cuts beautifully. Only thing is the handle is a bit thinner than I thought it would be. Took a few days to get used to the shape but now its fine. Would still recommend.
Nice knife, does the job well. The packaging was decent too, came in a box with a sleeve. My only minor niggle is the handle feels a bit slippery when wet. Not a deal breaker though, still a good buy. Would recommend for the price.
Got this for myself after my old chef knife finally gave up. Blimey, what a difference. Its sharp out the box, like really sharp. Makes slicing veg feel like gliding through butter. Looks gorgeous too, the pattern on the blade is stunning. Well happy.
Honestly just a fantastic knife. I'd been looking at a few different santokus and this one hit the sweet spot for price and quality. Its got a nice weight to it, not too light not too heavy. The pattern on the blade is a nice touch too. Very impressed.
Bought this as a birthday present for the missus, shes a keen cook. She absolutely loves it. Says it feels balanced and cuts like a dream. I had a go chopping some onions and honestly, I get it. Lovely bit of kit for the money.
My first proper Japanese knife and I'm converted. The difference in sharpness is night and day compared to my old ones. Love it.
