Komachi 小町 7″ Damascus Steel Santoku Knife 三徳包丁
Introducing the Komachi 小町 by Shimeru, a premium 7″ santoku knife that embodies timeless Japanese elegance and refined simplicity. Named after the legendary poet celebrated for her grace and beauty, the Komachi is crafted for those who believe true sophistication lies in understated perfection.
The blade is forged from 67 layers of premium Damascus steel with a VG10 cutting core, renowned for its exceptional sharpness, durability, and edge retention. The flowing wave pattern across the blade tells the story of traditional forging mastery, while the polished finish ensures smooth, effortless cuts through vegetables, proteins, and delicate ingredients alike.
The handle is crafted from rich, deep-grained rosewood with an elegant octagonal profile that sits naturally in the hand. A decorative mosaic pin adds a subtle accent of refinement, while the ergonomic shape provides a secure, comfortable grip that minimises fatigue during extended use. The warm tones of the wood complement the steel beautifully, creating a knife that is as pleasing to hold as it is to behold.
At 7″, the Komachi santoku excels at the three essential cuts—slicing, dicing, and mincing. Its wide blade profile allows for easy scooping and transfer of ingredients, while the balanced weight provides agile, confident handling for both everyday meal preparation and more ambitious culinary creations.
The Komachi 小町 7″ Damascus Steel Santoku Knife is for those who appreciate the quiet confidence of classic design. Elegant, precise, and purposeful, the Komachi will bring timeless beauty and effortless performance to your kitchen for years to come.

SaleStep 1 — Rinse
Warm water and mild soap after each use. Never put your knife in the dishwasher — the harsh detergents and jostling will damage the edge and handle.
Step 2 — Dry
Towel dry immediately. Don't leave it wet or in the sink — even stainless steel can develop spots if left damp.
Step 3 — Store
Use a knife block, magnetic strip, or blade guard. Never toss it loose in a drawer — it dulls the edge and is a safety hazard.
That's it — no special maintenance, no fussy rituals. Your Shimeru knife is designed for daily use. With these three steps it'll stay razor-sharp for years.
Really impressed with this santoku. I use it for pretty much everything now - veg, meat, even some fish. The flat profile makes chopping herbs a doddle. Arrived in a nice box too which was a bonus.
So glad I picked this up. I was a bit worried about spending that much on a single knife but honestly its worth it for the quality. The damascus pattern is gorgeous and its stayed sharp through everything. Would buy again.
Bought this as a gift for my dad who loves cooking. He said its the best knife hes ever owned. The handle is really comfortable and it looks the business on the magnetic strip.
This is my first proper Japanese knife and I'm ruined for anything else now. The VG10 core holds an edge like nothing Ive used before. Made quick work of a whole butternut squash last week and it still slices paper. Top notch.
Absolutely love this knife. Ive been using it for about a month now and it still feels like the first cut. The balance is spot on, makes prepping veg a joy. The pattern on the blade is a nice touch too.
Its a decent knife for the money. Sharp enough out the box and it looks nice. But I was expecting a bit more given the price point. It doesn't feel as premium as I hoped and the handle material feels a bit basic. Does the job though.
Lovely knife overall, really sharp and does the job well. My only tiny gripe is the handle shape - took me a few days to get used to as its a bit different to what I'm used to. Once you adjust its fine though. Would recommend.
Nice knife, feels well made and the balance is good. It is a touch heavier than I expected but I actually prefer it now as it does the work for you. Only reason its not 5 stars is I think the handle could be a bit more polished. But a solid buy.
Great santoku, definitely a step up from my old one. The edge retention is impressive. I just wish it came in a slightly longer size as sometimes I find myself reaching for a bigger blade for larger veg. Still very happy with it.
Brilliant knife, exactly what I needed. Lovely edge on it. Comfortable to hold for long chopping sessions and the weight feels just right. Proper upgrade from my old set.
