Komachi 小町 7″ Damascus Steel Santoku Knife 三徳包丁
Introducing the Komachi 小町 by Shimeru, a premium 7″ santoku knife that embodies timeless Japanese elegance and refined simplicity. Named after the legendary poet celebrated for her grace and beauty, the Komachi is crafted for those who believe true sophistication lies in understated perfection.
The blade is forged from 67 layers of premium Damascus steel with a VG10 cutting core, renowned for its exceptional sharpness, durability, and edge retention. The flowing wave pattern across the blade tells the story of traditional forging mastery, while the polished finish ensures smooth, effortless cuts through vegetables, proteins, and delicate ingredients alike.
The handle is crafted from rich, deep-grained rosewood with an elegant octagonal profile that sits naturally in the hand. A decorative mosaic pin adds a subtle accent of refinement, while the ergonomic shape provides a secure, comfortable grip that minimises fatigue during extended use. The warm tones of the wood complement the steel beautifully, creating a knife that is as pleasing to hold as it is to behold.
At 7″, the Komachi santoku excels at the three essential cuts—slicing, dicing, and mincing. Its wide blade profile allows for easy scooping and transfer of ingredients, while the balanced weight provides agile, confident handling for both everyday meal preparation and more ambitious culinary creations.
The Komachi 小町 7″ Damascus Steel Santoku Knife is for those who appreciate the quiet confidence of classic design. Elegant, precise, and purposeful, the Komachi will bring timeless beauty and effortless performance to your kitchen for years to come.

SaleReally nice knife, feels solid and looks the part. The blade is super sharp out the box. My only minor thing is the handle shape, its a bit more oval than I'm used to so took a day or two to get comfortable with. But the cutting performance is fantastic, definitely a massive upgrade.
Lovely knife, does everything you'd want a santoku to do. The damascus finish is gorgeous. I do wish it came in an 8 inch option as I've got big hands and sometimes feel like I'd like a bit more blade length. That's just personal preference though, its a great bit of kit and I use it all the time.
Massive upgrade from my old IKEA chef knife. The VG10 core holds an edge for ages. Used it to break down a whole chicken and it went through the joints no bother. Very impressed.
So I got this to replace my old block set santoku and wow, the difference is night and day. The VG10 core is ridiculously sharp, I've been using it for a month and it still glides through tomatoes without any pressure. The damascus pattern is beautiful too, looks proper posh on the magnetic strip. My only regret is not buying a proper knife sooner.
Cant believe how good this is for the price. The edge retention is brilliant, I've not had to sharpen it yet after weeks of use. Makes quick work of onions and peppers. Handle is comfy, not too heavy. Arrived next day which was a bonus. Really pleased.
Bought this for my husband who loves cooking. He was chuffed to bits with it. Said the balance is spot on and the flat profile is perfect for chopping veg. It came in a nice box which made it feel like a proper present. He uses it every day.
Way better than the Procook set I had. The difference in sharpness is night and day. Cuts so cleanly, my veg actually looks nicer on the plate.
The craftsmanship is obvious. That wavy pattern is beautiful. Its a proper workhorse too, I use it for nearly everything. Arrived next day which was a bonus.
Impressed with the quality. Cuts beautifully. The handle, while nice, is a bit smooth. Would prefer a bit more texture for a grippier feel when my hands are wet. Still recommends.
Its a decent knife. Sharp when it arrived and cuts fine. Just feels a bit... ordinary? For the price I guess I was expecting to be more wowed. Does the job but not blown away.
Very good knife for the price. The edge is fantastic. My minor gripe is I wish it was a tiny bit longer, maybe an 8 inch, just for when Im doing big joints of meat. But for 90% of tasks its brilliant.
Used it for meal prep all week, makes quick work of peppers, carrots, you name it. The handle has a nice secure feel, doesnt get slippery. Really chuffed with it.
Mixed feelings. The pattern is lovely and it came well packaged. But for a santoku, I find the flat spot a bit short, I end up using the tip more than I'd like. Its fine, just not perfect for me.
Love this santoku. The flat profile is perfect for how I chop, just up and down. Glides through onions without crushing them. My favourite knife in the kitchen now.
Okay so its a nice enough knife. Handle is comfortable. But I dont really get the hype about VG10 steel, my cheaper carbon steel knife seems to get just as sharp. Its good, not great.
Does the job perfectly, sharp and well made. The presentation box was a nice touch. Just a personal thing but I prefer a slightly more curved blade for a rocking chop, but for push cutting its spot on.
Great knife, holds an edge well. My only wish is that it came with a simple edge guard or sleeve for drawer storage. Had to buy one separate. Knife itself is lovely.
Perfect size for my small hands. Does everything I need, from herbs to butternut squash. The blade is thin so you get really precise cuts.
Bought this on a bit of a whim and so glad I did. Its just a lovely thing to use. Sharp, well balanced, and looks the part. Came really well packaged.
Love the blade and how it cuts. Handle is comfortable but I find it a tad heavier than I expected. Not a deal breaker, and I actually prefer the weight now for chopping hard veg.
So sharp out the box, sliced through tomatoes like they werent even there. The pattern on the blade is proper nice, looks classy on my magnetic strip. Been my go-to for everything veg wise for a month now.
Bought this to replace an old santoku. Its definitely sharper and better made. I just found the balance point is a bit more forward than Im used to. Took some adjusting but Im getting there.
The handle fits my hand really well, its comfortable even after a big sunday roast prep session. The damascus finish is stunning, you can tell its a quality bit of kit. Arrived in a nice box too.
Really nice knife, super sharp and looks great. Only reason its not 5 stars is the handle shape is a bit square for my liking, took a day or two to get used to. Still a great knife though.
Its alright. Looks nice on the blade. Cuts well. But I found it required honing more often than I thought it would based on the description. Does the job for general kitchen work.
