SaleStep 1, Rinse
Warm water and mild soap after each use. Never put your knife in the dishwasher, the harsh detergents and jostling will damage the edge and handle.
Step 2, Dry
Towel dry immediately. Don't leave it wet or in the sink, even stainless steel can develop spots if left damp.
Step 3, Store
Use a knife block, magnetic strip, or blade guard. Never toss it loose in a drawer, it dulls the edge and is a safety hazard.
That's it, no special maintenance, no fussy rituals. Your Shimeru knife is designed for daily use. With these three steps it'll stay razor-sharp for years.
Got this as a birthday present for myself and honestly it's brilliant. Used it every day for the last fortnight to prep stir frys and it glides through carrots and cabbage. Bit heavier than my old one but in a good way, feels properly solid. The edge is wicked sharp and the anti-rust coating seems to be doing its job after washing. Came in a nice little box too.
It's ok I suppose. Arrived quick and well packaged which was a plus. The blade is sharp enough but nothing special, I was expecting more for fifty quid honestly. Handle feels a bit light and plasticky compared to the rest of the knife. Does fine for slicing veg and chicken breast but I keep reaching for my old carbon steel one. Might keep it as a spare.
Been using this cleaver for a couple of weeks now, mainly for Chinese-style cooking - slicing beef for stir fries, chopping veg, that sort of thing. The 7 inch blade is just the right size for my small kitchen and the steel holds an edge really well. I was a bit worried it would be too heavy but actually it's balanced nicely and does most of the work for you. The anti-rust coating seems to be doing its job, no spots or anything after washing. My old one used to need sharpening constantly, this is a massive upgrade. Delivery was quick and it came well oiled in a cardboard sleeve.
Bought this for me dad for his birthday, he does a lot of Chinese cooking. He said the blade is proper sharp out the box and the weight feels spot on. Came well packaged too. Top notch.
Bought this for my partner who's a bit of a kitchen knife nerd and he reckons it's the best cleaver he's used for the price. The blade's got a nice heft to it but still feels nimble when you're chopping herbs or garlic. We've had it a couple months now and the edge is holding up really well, no rust at all. Only slight thing is the handle took a day or two to get used to because it's a bit different from our western knives but now he loves it.
Got this cleaver last week and it's honestly brilliant. Properly sharp out the box and the anti-rust coating is a nice touch. Made short work of a butternut squash that my old knife would have bounced off.
Really good cleaver for the money. Only thing is its a touch heavier than I'm used to, does make my wrist ache after a big prep session. Edge is spot on though and cleans up easy. Would've liked an 8 inch version maybe but this does the job.
Got this cleaver for my other half who does all the stir fries. Properly sharp out the box, blitzed through a mound of veg like nothing. The blade feels solid and the weight helps with chopping through chicken bones which was a nice surprise. Been a few weeks now and still razor sharp, no rust either. For fifty quid its a steal honestly.
got this cleaver a month ago and its bloody brilliant. weight feels proper, chops through chicken bones without any struggle and the blade still looks new. the anti rust coating seems to work, i leave it out a lot (bad habit) and no spots yet. best 55 quid ive spent in ages
Bought this for my son who works in a kitchen, he says its spot on. He's been using it daily for all the heavy prep and says the edge has held up really well, much better than the cheaper cleaver he had before. Came in a nice box as well which was a bonus. I had a go with it at his flat and even I could slice through a butternut squash without thinking about it. Proper piece of kit
