Suma 須磨 4.5″ Damascus Steel Steak Knife Set (4 Pieces) ステーキナイフ
Introducing the Suma 須磨 by Shimeru, a premium set of four 4.5″ steak knives that bring the artistry of Japanese craftsmanship to your dining table. Named after the tranquil shores of Suma, these knives transform every meal into an occasion—where precision meets elegance and performance becomes ritual.
67-Layer Damascus Steel Precision Each Suma steak knife is individually forged from 67 layers of premium Damascus steel, encasing a VG10 core with a Rockwell hardness of 62 HRC for exceptional edge retention and durability. The distinctive wave pattern across each blade is a testament to traditional forging mastery. Honed to a razor-sharp 15° edge, significantly finer than the 20–25° found on typical Western knives, the Suma cuts through steak with effortless precision, preserving the juices and texture of every cut.
G10 Ergonomic Handle The handle is crafted from military-grade G10 fibre, renowned for its strength, durability, and resistance to moisture, heat, and bacteria. The sleek black finish offers timeless sophistication, while the ergonomic triple-rivet design ensures a secure, comfortable grip. Whether you're hosting an intimate dinner or a grand gathering, the Suma sits confidently in hand, elevating every dining experience.
Elevate Your Table At 4.5″, each Suma steak knife is perfectly proportioned for tableside use—agile enough for precise cuts yet substantial enough for the finest ribeye or fillet. The set of four ensures your guests share in the experience of exceptional craftsmanship.
A Dining Experience Refined The Suma 須磨 4.5″ Damascus Steel Steak Knife Set is more than cutlery, it is a statement of refined taste. For those who believe that how you dine is as important as what you eat, the Suma collection will bring artistry, precision, and elegance to every meal.

SaleStep 1, Rinse
Warm water and mild soap after each use. Never put your knife in the dishwasher, the harsh detergents and jostling will damage the edge and handle.
Step 2, Dry
Towel dry immediately. Don't leave it wet or in the sink, even stainless steel can develop spots if left damp.
Step 3, Store
Use a knife block, magnetic strip, or blade guard. Never toss it loose in a drawer, it dulls the edge and is a safety hazard.
That's it, no special maintenance, no fussy rituals. Your Shimeru knife is designed for daily use. With these three steps it'll stay razor-sharp for years.
Bought the 4 piece set after seeing them on the website. Honestly, I was a bit nervous spending this much on steak knives but they're worth it. The set looks stunning on the table and they cut through a thick ribeye with zero effort. Ive started using one of them for chopping herbs and small veg as well because they're so sharp. My old Victorinox set is now in the drawer gathering dust. The handles are a bit different to what I'm used to but I actually prefer the resin and wood feel.
got this set for my dads birthday. he's well into his steaks and these have been a proper hit. they look the business with the damascus pattern and the handles feel really nice. all four arrived sharp as you like.
Ordered this set for steak night at ours and they've quickly become the favourite knives in the house. The damascus pattern is beautiful, the photos don't really do it justice. The set comes in a really nice presentation box which would make it a great gift. I use one of them for pretty much everything now - slicing tomatoes, cutting sandwiches, even carved a small roast chicken with one the other day. They're still razor sharp after a month of daily use. The only thing I'd say is the blades are a bit shorter than I'm used to for a steak knife but honestly they work perfectly fine and the set looks proper elegant on the table. Would definitely buy again if I needed to.
Really nice set overall, blades are super sharp out of the box and they sit nicely in the hand. The resin and wood handle looks smart but I found it slightly heavier than I'd like, my hand ached a bit after a long meal prepping veg with one of them. That said for actual steak they are spot on, and the box they came in is nice enough to keep them in. Would still recommend, just wish they were a touch lighter.
Got this set for my dad's birthday and he proper loves them. He's been using a cheap set for years so this was a big step up. I had a go with one when I went round and the balance is lovely, cuts through gristle like it's not there. Only used them twice so far but they seem to hold their edge well.
Bought these as a treat after our old set from the supermarket were about as useful as butter knives. The difference is mad. They slice through a thick ribeye without any sawing at all, and the damascus pattern looks even better in person. We used all four at a dinner party last weekend and a couple of guests asked where I got them. Came well packaged too.
Really solid set of steak knives, they do the job well and look proper smart on the table. My only niggle is the handle shape - it's a bit more rounded than I'm used to and took a few meals to get comfortable with, but now I don't really notice it. They are on the heavier side as well, but that's not a bad thing for cutting through thick steaks. If you're after a sharp, good looking set for dinner parties, these fit the bill. Only wish they did a slightly longer blade option for bigger cuts.
Bought this set for my husband's birthday, he's well into his steaks. These are absolutely lovely bits of kit - the damascus pattern is gorgeous and they're razor sharp out the box. We've used them a few times now on everything from ribeye to sirloin and they just glide through. The handles feel really nice, that mix of black resin and wood looks smart on the table too. My favourite knife in the set? Probably the one he uses for tomatoes, which is saying something.
Was a bit sceptical spending this much on steak knives but honestly these are worth it. Came really well packaged, each one in its own sleeve. Used them for a Sunday roast and they made carving and eating so much easier. Way better than the old Procook set I had, those were blunt after a year. These have a nice weight and the damascus steel looks class. Would recommend to anyone who takes their meat seriously.
Got these for my husband's birthday as he's always moaning about our old steak knives being blunt. The damascus pattern on the blades is really quite pretty, got that wavy look to it. They're proper sharp, sliced through a thick sirloin with barely any pressure. The set is a good size for the two of us plus guests. Only slight thing is I find the handles a bit slim compared to what I'm used to, feels like I'm gripping a pencil almost. Husband reckons they're spot on though so might just be me. All in all a solid set, no complaints really.
